Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

One spring morning, a stranger arrives in the small southern city of Golden. No one knows where he has come from…or why…

His name is Theo. And he asks a lot more questions than he answers.

Theo visits the local coffeehouse, where ninety-two pencil portraits hang on the walls, portraits of the people of Golden done by a local artist. He begins purchasing them, one at a time, and putting them back in the hands of their “rightful owners.” With each exchange, a story is told, a friendship born, and a life altered.

A story of giving and receiving, of seeing and being seen, Theo of Golden is a beautifully crafted novel about the power of creative generosity, the importance of wonder to a purposeful life, and the invisible threads of kindness that bind us to one another.

Settle back and soak up the guiding melody that is this work. I will be comforted for the rest of my years reflecting on the lessons of Theo. Love our fellow man for who they are, love yourself in the same way. I feel blessed having read this beautiful story.

Just closed the book and already miss Theo, Asher, Ellen, Tony and all the great characters in ‘Theo of Golden’.. I looked forward to ‘seeing’ them each night the last thing before sleep. I wish the book could’ve gone on longer or I was a slower reader.

I struggled with how slow and utterly boring whatever this was…finally gave up before the halfway point. No interesting plot, characters or hook - then started to realize the real agenda: to preach - don’t waste your time or money. Man called Ove and the Road are great successful examples of inspired writing, without being trite.

So beautifully written. So full of mesmerizing, thought provoking acts of kindness, that let the reader fall under the spell of Theo’s Love. It is and will be a book to read over and over again. What a literary gift.

This book is one of the best books I have read in a long time. His writing reminds me of Mitch Albom. The book stirred every emotion in me!

What a wonderful pleasure it was to read this book. Mr. Levi’s words brought me right there to Golden to see and feel and be amongst the characters. He is indeed a literary artist.
