Description

In this riveting dark fantasy debut, a woman with missing memories fights to survive a war-torn world of necromancy and alchemy—and the man tasked with unearthing the deepest secrets of her past.

What is it you think you’re protecting in that brain of yours? The war is over. Holdfast is dead. The Eternal Flame extinguished. There’s no one left for you to save.”

Once a promising alchemist, Helena Marino is now a prisoner—of war and of her own mind. Her Resistance friends and allies have been brutally murdered, her abilities suppressed, and the world she knew destroyed.

In the aftermath of a long war, Paladia’s new ruling class of corrupt guild families and depraved necromancers, whose vile undead creatures helped bring about their victory, holds Helena captive.

According to Resistance records, she was a healer of little importance within their ranks. But Helena has inexplicable memory loss of the months leading up to her capture, making her enemies wonder: Is she truly as insignificant as she appears, or are her lost memories hiding some vital piece of the Resistance’s final gambit?

To uncover the memories buried deep within her mind, Helena is sent to the High Reeve, one of the most powerful and ruthless necromancers in this new world. Trapped on his crumbling estate, Helena’s fight—to protect her lost history and to preserve the last remaining shreds of her former self—is just beginning. For her prison and captor have secrets of their own . . . secrets Helena must unearth, whatever the cost.

This kept me engaged and when I thought it would be predictable there was a twist to keep it interesting. I’ll recommend.

I’ve never written a review on here but this book was so good I’ll be in mourning for a few days because of it so I have to recommend it so that I can share my grief in finishing it

Equal parts sci-fi, horror, fantasy, and romance, this is one of the most intriguing books I have ever read.  Usually, it takes a few chapters in a book to engage me, but by the 2nd paragraph, I was hooked.  With over 1,000 pages, I expected to encounter sluggish sections, but none appeared.  A brilliant work, but make sure you read the author's content notes; this book is definitely not for everyone.
  • Alchemised: phenomenally epic.

Dark, immersive, emotionally intense, and beautifully written. The world-building is rich, the stakes feel real, and the characters absolutely wrecked me in the best way. One of those books that grabs you and doesn’t let go. Highly recommend if you love epic fantasy with depth and bite. 🔥📚

This book is beautifully written. Yes! This book is dark but war over spiritual beliefs is often very ugly. This book takes all the ugliness of war to show the depth a person is willing to go for love and belief in another person. A glossary would be useful.

This book is beautifully written. The author added so much depth and complexity to her characters and own world that I might even love this book more than Manacled, which I didn’t think possible. It has climbed to the top of my list as the best book I’ve ever read. It’ll stay with you long after reading it. The story deals with heavy themes so it is not for everyone. It holds a special place in my heart even though many parts broke it. This is a book that is unforgettable!
  • Fabulous book. Wish it had a glossary.

I love this book. I just wish there was a glossary with definitions and genealogy. I had reread part one while I was reading part two to remember everyone and everything.
