Description

A glorious empire. A desperate quest. An ancient secret.

The search for allies extends to a new land in the sixth book in this complete, #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, author of the Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series.

Chaol Westfall and Nesryn Faliq have arrived in the shining city of Antica to forge an alliance with the Khagan of the Southern Continent, whose vast armies are Erilea's last hope. But they have also come to Antica for another purpose: to seek healing at the famed Torre Cesme for the wounds Chaol received in Rifthold.

After enduring unspeakable horrors as a child at the hands of Adarlanian soldiers, Yrene Towers has no desire to help the young lord from Adarlan, let alone heal him. Yet she has sworn an oath to assist those in need, and she will honor it. But Lord Westfall carries his own dark past, and Yrene soon realizes that those shadows could engulf them both.

Chaol, Nesryn, and Yrene will have to draw on every scrap of their resilience to overcome the danger that surrounds them. But while they become entangled in the political webs of the khaganate, long-awaited answers slumber deep in the mountains, where warriors soar on legendary ruks. Answers that might offer their world a chance at survival or doom them all.

The final battle looms in this sixth book in the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series.

Other books in this series include:
Throne of Glass
Crown of Midnight
Heir of Fire
Queen of Shadows
Empire of Storms
Kingdom of Ash
The Assassin's Blade (prequel novellas)

  • Slow burn, but worth it.

I started loving this book about halfway in. It was really hard for me to pivot away from Aelin’s storyline when it had ended so dramatically in the previous book. I didn’t want to focus on Chaol and Nesryn after all of that, but I’m so glad I did! This book was amazing and now I can’t wait to read the finale!
  • Tandem Read

Tower of Dawn alongside Empire of Storms was an epic tandem read, but this book was the standout. It's quite remarkable, as I initially heard it was intended as a novella, yet it developed into one of my most beloved entries in the entire series. I was completely invested in Chaol and Yrene's journey and found the exploration of the southern continent utterly fascinating. The depth added through Sartaq and Nesryn's discoveries about Maeve and the Kharankui was a masterstroke, delivering genuinely surprising revelations. And the unexpected re-emergence of Falkan, along with weaving in the history between Yrene and Aelin, were beautifully executed plot points. I'm immensely excited to see how Sarah J. Maas wraps up this incredible series, and Tower of Dawn is definitely on my list for a re-read, if not the entire collection.

A whole book about my two least favorite characters. You can skip this one without it impacting the story.

I did the tandem read with Empire of Storms and they are perfectly read together. What an unbelievable ending, that feels so much better because I read both books at the same time. This series ROCKS!
  • Harder to read but rewarding when done.

Super hard to leave all of our favorite characters but when pushing through was so happy with Chaols development and ended up falling in love with Yrene.
  • Definitely worth the read

Many critique this book in its change of pace and settings and characters, because it shoots off from the main path of the other book. However because of those reasons this book is 10/10 top tier. It’s a little jarring at first, all the changes but quickly this book becomes vital to the main storyline. I won’t spoil anything so just read it! This breaths life into the whole world of this series and adds in so many layers!
  • Unrelentingly boring

Such an unexpected and laborious detour in the series. Read as if it were written by someone other than the author. Lacked the intertwining stories, suspense and adventure of previous books.

I didn’t want to leave Alien and head into another POV but it was worth the read.

At first, I was not pleased with the beginning of this book. I was completely blown away with this story, it kept getting better until the end. It flows perfectly into the next book. Excellent writing and story telling.
